My ex and I built this garden over the winter of 2003-4, using sheet mulching techniques on top of the rocky gravel that passed for soil on this rented lot. It worked very well and grew some excellent veg, but on this scale (a 50x50’ area) it’s definitely not a low work technique! R to L in the pic: tall snap peas on an a-frame trellis, short snow peas on a smaller a-frame trellis, with lettuce along the edge of the bed, and on the L I think there was potatoes at the near end and annual flowers for bouquets further away. In the background is the hoophouse with roll up doors and sides, tomatoes in the center bed and maybe still salad mix in the side beds.
